Molotow Belton Premium Spray Paint 400ml

Shake well for at least 1–2 minutes after the mixing ball starts to rattle, and give the can another shake every so often while you paint. Some paints need longer, so check the product details for any specific guidance.

High pressure cans put out a lot of paint quickly, which makes them good for filling large areas and fast work. Low pressure cans give a slower, more controlled flow for detail, outlines and fine lines. Medium pressure cans sit in between. The cap you use also makes a big difference to the width and flow of the spray.

When you've finished painting, turn the can upside down and spray for a couple of seconds until only gas comes out. This clears paint out of the valve and cap. If a cap does block, swap it for a fresh one. Used caps can be soaked in a suitable cleaner: water for water-based paint, or cap cleaner or thinners for solvent-based paint.

Shake the can well, hold it at the recommended distance (usually around 15–30cm), keep it moving and build up colour in thin layers, letting each layer dry slightly before adding the next. Heavy single coats are the most common cause of drips and runs.

Aerosols don't perform well when they're cold – the pressure drops and the paint can spit, run or take much longer to dry. Keep cans at room temperature before use and let them warm up gradually indoors, never with direct heat. Check the product details for the recommended working temperature.

Not always. A primer helps on very absorbent surfaces (bare wood, plaster, raw concrete), very smooth or shiny surfaces (gloss plastic, glass, bare metal) and on anything you want to last outdoors. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, and always test on a small area first.

Always work in a well-ventilated area and take regular breaks in fresh air. We recommend wearing a respirator mask with filters suitable for paint vapours, plus gloves – even with low-odour or water-based paints. Read the safety information on the can before use.

Keep cans in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Aerosols must not be exposed to temperatures above 50°C, so never leave them in a hot car. Clearing the cap after each use (turn the can upside down and spray until only gas comes out) means it's ready to go next time.

Make sure the can is completely empty, with no paint or pressure left, then recycle it wherever your local council accepts aerosols – many UK councils do. Cans that still contain paint shouldn't go in household recycling; check with your council about disposing of them safely.

No. Aerosols can't be sent by Royal Mail, so any order containing spray paint is sent by courier instead.

During 2026 Molotow is moving PREMIUM over to a new acrylic formula (MOLOCRYL™), replacing the old nitro-alkyd base. Molotow says it gives higher opacity, more vivid colours, better UV resistance, less cracking and a lower odour, with a softer valve for more control. The change-over is gradual, so for a while you may receive old or new formula cans depending on the colour.

Yes. Molotow confirms the old and new formulas are fully compatible and can be used together. Because the new formula is more opaque and vivid, some colours may look slightly different between the two versions, so it's worth checking if you're matching an existing piece of work.

It's a semi-gloss, low-pressure can with a soft valve, giving you plenty of control for outlines, details and fine lines as well as fills. The range runs to over 275 shades, including neon and transparent colours.

New formula cans come with Molotow's PREMIUM Skinny Cap, a writing cap for fine lines – hold it close, around 2cm from the surface. For filling larger areas or DIY projects, swap to a wider universal or fan cap and spray from around 10–15cm. The caps are interchangeable, so you can use whichever suits the job.

Yes. It has high UV and weather resistance for long-lasting work both indoors and outdoors, and Molotow's all-season™ technology is designed to keep it spraying consistently from around -10°C to +50°C.
